Monday, November 5

Pioneering guitarist June Millington co-founded Fanny, the first all-female rock band to release an album on a major label (1970's Fanny, on Reprise) engaged in conversation with Prof. Gayle Wald on Monday, November 5 regarding her life and work. In addition to playing lead guitar in Fanny, the Philippines-born musician has collaborated with Holly Near and Cris Williamson, released solo albums, and co-funded the Institute for Musical Arts, which supports women and girls in popular music. When confronted with sexism and racism, she said, "I turned it up to 11.  I let that be my own voice."  Special thanks to her for joining us.
