This year’s graduation was a series of wonderful celebrations. The MA students were feted first, on May 14.  At the MA celebration for Columbian College, our own Amanda Figueroa was the Distinguished Student Speaker, where she referenced her work on femicide at the U.S.-Mexico border to emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary study. The following day, the American Studies department hosted a warm reception for undergraduate majors in our historic townhouse, just before the CCAS celebration in the Smith Center. Professor Melani McAlister led a toast for our talented graduating students after which faculty had a chance to meet the proud parents, siblings, and grandparents. Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
