About
With undergraduate, combined, master’s and doctoral degree options, the Department of American Studies offers students at all levels ways to engage in interdisciplinary cultural analysis. Our curriculum covers issues relating to race, gender and sexuality, explores transnational flows of culture, ideas and religious beliefs, examines the development and transformation of public cultures and spaces and looks at ways policy interacts with each of these areas. Our faculty are well-published, nationally recognized experts in their fields; our undergraduate and graduate students win prestigious awards and their research has appeared in major academic journals; and we count journalists, political analysts, museum specialists, human rights lawyers, music managers, think tank researchers, historic preservationists, authors and entrepreneurs among our alumni.
