Our own Julie Chamberlain was awarded the American Academy of Religion's International Dissertation Research Grant. This will fund her trip to South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town) this summer, where she'll do archival research related to Desmond Tutu. The name of her proposal was "'Love So Surprising: Desmond Tutu and the Moral Witness of the Global South." Congratulations Julie!

"The International Dissertation Research Grants program is designed to support AAR student members whose dissertation research requires them to travel outside of the country in which their school or university is located.  Grants are intended to help candidates complete their doctoral degrees by offsetting costs of travel, lodging, and other dissertation research-related expenses. This is a competitive program: applications are reviewed by a jury of senior scholars appointed by the AAR President."
