Liz Foshe is a Ph.D. student in American Studies at George Washington University. As a first-generation college student, she earned a dual bachelor's in Political Science and Philosophy from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s in Women’s Studies from the University of Alabama. Her research focuses primarily on Cultural Memory in the American South. Drawing on interdisciplinary methods, she pulls from a wide array of scholarship including works on historic preservation, hauntings, tourism, memorialization, and re-enactment in order to better understand how memory is performed and negotiated through the discourses of history and nostalgia.
