Molly Scheid

PhD Student

Hi I’m Molly, I am from Livermore, CA which is 45 minutes outside San Francisco. I did my undergraduate studies in Sociology and Anthropology, and completed my MA in Liberal Arts and Sciences, both at San Diego State University. In my MA program, I looked at CIA involvement in Latin America, specifically in Guatemala (1954) and Chile (1973). As a first year PhD student at George Washington University, I am broadly interested in how corporate power and US militarism, since the 1970s, has influenced democracy domestically and abroad. Since graduating from my MA in 2022, I have been substitute teaching (K-12), teaching English abroad (Guatemala and Spain), and practicing my Spanish!

Why American Studies and why GW?
