Collin Absher
MA Student
Collin Absher is an incoming first year Masters Student in American Studies at GWU. He previously studied at William & Mary, earning his Bachelors in Chinese Studies and Asian Pacific Islander American Studies while also spending time in Taiwan and the Philippines. His research in the past focused on how Chinese Heritage Language education curriculum in America lacks a contextual basis on the inclusion of Chinese American history and Asian American history. Additionally, Collin is interested in how policy making impacts theories like Racial Triangulation over a longer period of time and how American social policy perpetuates a constant cycle of scapegoat-isms on racial and identity minorities. Collin has high Mandarin proficiency and works at RAND full time as a research assistant. In his free time, Collin competes nationally with the DC Dragon Boat Club, loves to run, and explores coffee shops to find the perfect latte.
