Luis Diaz, MC for the Puerto Rican underground hip hop group Intifada, is a historian, teacher, and long-time activist for Puerto Rican independence. His music, grounded in the African Diasporic roots of hip hop, explores the relationship of the past to the present and calls on us all to join the struggle to end colonial rule globally. He's released three albums, Intifada (2004), Mundo Nuevo (2006) and Intifada III (2011), and has traveled the world spreading the message of revolution through Spanish-language hip hop.
